Do not EVER use the WSD function on anything. I have tried for two F'ing days straight trying to get this stupid thing to connect to my D-Link Wireless 802.11g access point with NO LUCK!įirst off, about the D-Link access point, DO NOT PUSH THE WSD button. #Canon mp560 driver install windowsI just recently bought the Canon PIXMA MP560 myslef and also run Windows 7. Could this be a reason? PS: I'm not in UK - I'm actually from Germany. Therefore I have the odd feeling that on the 172-range ip isolation might be turned on. Now the interesting part is that none of these devices are able to ping each other, however all of them are able to ping the router (.1). The fact is that my printer, my Thinkpad, my iPhone and now also my girlfriend's notebook are on the same network in the 172-range. However I feel we are kind of losing ourselves in resolving the topology of my home network which I have to admit actually is interesing. #Canon mp560 driver install macWhat I find irritating is that these two networks seem to be connected somehow as the MAC with 192.168.1.2 is for some weird reason able to ping the printer on 172.16.42.4. on the 192-range it is the gateway as 192.168.1.1 and on the 172-range it is the gateway as 172.16.42.1. One is the router which has two network cards, two IPs and supplies two networks: the .x range and the 172.16.x.x range. It was the same for me until i figured out that actually there are two MACs where I thought it would be just one. I can understand your confusion regarding the two ip ranges. If you can't access the router, can your roommate (the router interface)? Once your flatmate is on the 172.16.x.x he'll then be able to ping everything on your network have you restarted the printer after getting it configured? Its puzzling to me that the Iphone can ping the MAC Does your flatmate's machine access the internet through your router or through another device? Are you using homeplug (since you mention flatmate which is a UK term, we don't use that term in the US). I will assume you have some kind of router in your residence, if so, can you log into the web interface of it and determine what the ip address of it is? What is it showing for the default gateway, its IP address. Your flatmate won't be able to ping anything on the 172.16.x.x address range as those addresses are not routable, they will never see each other. Can you connect to the internet with your Thinkpad (you didn't mention it so just checking). Have you turned off turned off any and all firewalls and tried connecting? Yes, I tried it with the difference that I could then ping my iPhone from my TP. The Mac got 192.168.1.2 Do you have Network Discovery and File & Print Sharing enabled? Yes. Are all devices getting their IP addresses via dhcp or does any of them have a static IP assigned? My flatmates Mac has a static IP that actually is in a whole different range. Is everything wireless in your nework or is your Thinkpad wired? Everything wireless, not a single wire in this household. How do you have your network setup as? Homegroup, Work or Public? Right now it's homegroup, tried Work before which didnt change the situation. I'll go through your questions step by step so you can see the situation in more detail. First of all: I'm online with my Thinkpad under Win7 right now, so yes, I am actually connected to the wireless network and my internet is running. Hi to you two and thanks for the replies. Who can help me to solve this problem? After 2 days of trying to set up this thing I'm really lost AND yet unable to print oX Thanks! Interesting phenomenon on network side: 1) My Win7-Thinkpad is not able to ping the printer 2) My flatmates Mac is able to ping the printer 3) My flatmates Mac is unable to ping my Win7 Thinkpad 4) My iPhones is unable to ping either printer or Win7 Thinkpad, but can ping the flatmates Mac. at all! I've then tried with the windows built-in network thing from the start menu (start/printers) - same problem. Obviously my Win7 cannot find the printer in the network. However this step always fails upon connecting to the printer. #Canon mp560 driver install manualFollowing the manual further I installed the software on my Win7 thinkpad via the provided driver-cd. The device connects to my WPA2 protected home network after typing in the passphrase, gets dhcp information and claims to be up and running. So I followed the instructions to set up the printer which worked flawless. I want to use the wireless networking capability of the device as a) there is no usb cable provided in the package and dont have one atm ( b) it's nicer than running around with a usb cable. Hi there, i just got myself a new Priner/Scanner/Copy machine from canon and am failing terribly at installing it.
